About FMC

Our key activities started out in the early millennium (2000) in the construction sector as a 2-4 man business.

In early 2008/10 Mr Robert Austin Jnr was given an opportunity in the facility sector to work with some major blue chip clients, after several collectively with Mr Austin Snr to re-direct the business due to the instability in the construction sector it was from there the transition started to move from construction to facilities.

From there unknowingly the trading name of FMC (Fabrics and Maintenance Contractors) Ltd started to be formed and in 2011 FMC was registered as a private limited company and the business started to grow.

In 2013, FMC made a strategic shift, transitioning away from the facilities sector and refocusing on its core strengths. The company began tendering flat roofing and decorating projects once again, marking a return to the construction sector.

This move allowed FMC to leverage its established expertise in these areas, reinforcing its presence in the industry and positioning itself for future growth in construction.

With a carefully crafted 5-year business plan, countless late nights, and years of weekend work, the drive began. Our office support teams joined the back office, and our tradespeople became an integral part of the team.

Together, we built a strong foundation for sustained growth and success.

FMC quickly identified its key strengths in the evolving market and focused on its two core divisions within the construction sector: the Flat Roofing and Internal Decorating teams, which had already grown within the Facilities division.

Since then, FMC has consistently experienced organic year-on-year growth in both roofing and painting & decorating.

In late 2018, the passing of Mr. Austin Sr., a revered figure known to us as “BOB”, deeply affected everyone at FMC. His loss was felt across the entire team, who had not only admired his leadership but had also considered him a mentor and friend.

In the wake of this tragedy, the company was forced to undergo a period of restructuring, with key roles reassigned and the team adjusting to new leadership. Despite the grief, FMC remained committed to honouring his legacy and continuing to move forward.

As we expanded, it became essential to consider the broader geography of our country.

We opened our Bristol office and welcomed new team members to support our growth and strengthen our commitment to excellence in all that we do.

We chose to rebrand, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter.

Formerly known as FMC (Fabrics & Maintenance Contractors) Ltd, the company was renamed FMC Projects.

This decision reflected our strategic shift and aligned with the goals of our next 5-year plan.

FMC has recently achieved CHAS Elite status, a significant milestone that reflects both the company’s commitment to excellence and the hard work of our dedicated team.

This accomplishment is a testament to our continuous efforts to maintain the highest safety and compliance standards.
